doc roy l. pain
Has anyone ever tried to fit a colt army style grip frame to a vaquero. If so could you show some pics
Goody, SASS #26190
Not that. But I did have a German clone that had extended grips, just no grip frame. The grip panels were longer by about a half an inch, then a filler block was glued to one side. So when they were mounted if viewed from below it looked like solid wood. Same result as an Army grip frame/grips.
Manchester
When you say Army, guessing you mean a 1860 Army not SAA. The Super Blackhawk grip frame is longer than the Vaquero and close the 1860 grip. I fit a SBH Hunter grip frame to my original Vaquero to fit my big paw a bit better. The SBH Hunter is only available as stainless. The SBH Dragoon frame with the square back trigger guard is available as blue. Think Midway carries both. Note they are rough and require work to fit. SBH Hunter on left and Vaquero (XR3-RED) on the right
Buckshot Bob
I believe power custom makes a SAA frame , I don’t remember finding a 1860 frame , that’s what I was looking for
doc roy l. pain
Manchester, yes I was speaking of an 1860 army size grip frame. Sorry I didn’t make that clear. The super Blackhawk frame may be the way to go. It also has enough meat on the back of the frame to shave some off and change the angle a little bit. Will Kane
I have some mesquite wood extended grips made by Texas Grips on my OM Vaqueros. They've worked out quite well for me. https://texasgrips.com/extended-grips-info/
