Made the show for me.  He played the part with style and made his part very believable.

I made several hats for folks in the style he wore.  The show was popular with the cowboy crowd!!

One of the outfits I wear is based on his red shirt and black vest. I loved that hat he wore too!

In my  humble opinion  it was one of the best westerns on TV. Both him and Trampas could actually ride a horse. Sad to lose him.

I have every show on DVD, and I watch them from time to time.
Adios amigo.RIP

I didn't watch The Virginian much, but I remember him very well from Ride the High Country, one of my favorite Western movies. 'Course he was a bad guy there.

From my understanding his character was based upon his grandfather?

He joined my yacht club when I was commodore. His wife was a long time racing sailor.

He was a nice, quiet man and always ready to volunteer.

Did you know that he was always 'The Virginian' and never had another name in that series.

..........Widder 'The Tennessean'

I’m watching The Virginian as I have been scrolling through the Saloon. Very sad to lose him, for sure.

RIP, Virginian.

I never saw the shows.  I was overseas during almost of its run.  Guess I'll have to see if I can find it and see what I missed.

And the original Virginian (Joel Mccrea) movie version, was one of the good guys in that movie.

"When you call me that, smile"
