120 x binoculars??

Howdy,

In looking at some nice lower power binoculars I came across

some sort of military looking ones that go 60x to120 x more or less.

They are priced under $100.

Ive never seen any in a store.

Are they useful? Too heavy to take anywhere?

One set was priced at 52 dollars.... Very tempting.

But I don't need to just waste 52 dollars either....

Anyone tried these??

Can not believe 60 power bino for under $100 would have good or even fair glass.  I don't think I would buy without taking them outside and just seeing what they did.  60x would also require a tri-pod to hold them steady enough to see anything to say nothing about 120x.

One thing for sure is that I couldn't hold a 120x still enough to worth anything.:P

Lens quality etc. aside, it would depends on their intended use.

While I have some powerful units, for general use, I find 7 or 8 by 35 up to 50 most useful.

You sure the 120 is not diameter in mm of the objective lens?

That's what I was thinking.

Are they 60x120      OR      60-120x?

..........Widder

Howdy,

You aren't trying very hard.

Go on ebay type  120 x binocular and have a look.

I was in hope someone used them for long distance shootin

You'll never save a penny with cheap 'glass'.

Go to B&H Photo, and under spotting scopes look hard a Celestron.

I have a pair of binoculars that are 16x50, and I don't like them because with 16 power it's impossible to hold them steady and view without shaking...  almost to the point of becoming motion sick while trying to focus.....

Howdy,

I think they just leave out the part about needing a tripod.

Your comments about 8x binos are in line with my experience.

I had one chance to compare binos at a shooting match.

The little leupold 9x pocket model was quite good.

I should have bought one, I think they are discontinued??
