A Western movie primer?

The Budd Boettecher/Randolph Scott movies are real favorites of mine. They included a lot of guys who  went on to become stars: Lee Marvin, Richard Boone, Parnell Roberts, James Coburn....

Lee Marvin in Seven Men From Now has one of his very best roles, in my opinion, and it was very early in his career.

Shortly after those, Scott topped off his career with Joel McRae in Ride the High Country, which is in my personal top 5 all-time Westerns.

My collection of these westerns keeps growing all the time, thanks to TCM.

Red Storm, Rooster Corrigan and I enjoy our viewing parties, while boondocking on whatever range the match is the next day.

I really like these Randolph Scott westerns.

I think I have those on DVD.

Randolph Scott was a family favorite.  My mother’s parents came from the same area (Virginia/North Carolina), had the same accent.  When Randolph Scott speaks I hear my Papa.

He also made a great villain.  Watch him and the Duke play off each other in “The Spoilers”.  One of the best bar fights ever in the final moments.
