North Idaho Leather
Can anybody tell me what the approximate value is if this 97? I picked it up from a friend last summer for WB but I’m thinking she’s too purdy to subject it to that abuse. before I got it, somebody had installed a poly choke, so I had the smith cut the barrel down and install a bead on front. Barrel now measures 21.5” to the bolt face *edited. It is a takedown model. Born 1953 Modified Barrel

All serialized parts have matching numbers. It’s got a couple issues that need to be worked over by a good smith. Locking lug for the bolt isn’t functioning and shells won’t feed from the tube. I’m just trying to figure out where to draw the line as to how much I want to spend to get her back in working order. It’s in excellent condition otherwise -Idaho Bob
Major General Shagnasty
I was at a local gun auction this month and one with a 30 in barrel in about the same condition sold for 300.00. After the auction was over I asked what the write bid was that I was bidding against, he said the write in bid was 450. Hope this helps.

Cat Brules
If the gun needs work at all that has to be done by a gunsmith, then in today’s world I wouldn’t pay more than $300 for it. If It requires parts, $300 will start looking like too much, pretty quick. Cat Brules
largo casey #19191
There mite be a screw on the right side of the frame that is pushing the cartridge guide plate out from the frame keeping the shells frome feeding. May have to file the screw a bit Largo
Widder, SASS #59054
North Idaho, 1953 model with matching serial numbers and in nice 'cosmetic' shape and functions fairly well is considered by some 'Winchester 97' owners as being 'reasonably' valuable. I will email RED KNEE in Oklahoma and ask him to check out this thread. He tries to keep up with stuff like this and might be able to help. If you get a chance, call me today: 865 / 696-1996 ..........Widder

Big Sage, SASS #49891 Life
IMHO the gun would be worth more if you hadn't cut off the barrel & Poly Choke. I understand you were planning to use it for WB, but typically the choke was installed on lots of guns, my grandfathers M12 has one on it. Just sayin..............
