Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474
Our left wing minority ruling party tried to sneak in a clause that would have given them cart blanche tax and spending authority until the end of 2021, but got caught by MP's that actually read the bill. Why is it that left leaning parties seem to favour sneaky tactics as opposed to dealing with matters straight up and in the open?
bgavin
$11 BILLION in pork, just to Africa. The gov't will print even more money, and pay off the big debt of Yesterday with the cheap dollars of Tomorrow.

Cypress Sun
As I understand it, it will be based upon the 2018 (year) tax return. If one didn't file a tax return for that year, will they still receive a "check"? I don't think any of the questions like this have been answered. As opposed to the first senate version that the republicans tried to sneak in a slush fund? Neither party is any less guilty of those tactics. They are both beholden to the same masters. bgavin
I downloaded the PDF of the signed bill. It is 880 pages in PDF form. I'm running a spread sheet on all the expenditures. So far... just under $1 TRILLION dollars in pork and christmas tree ornaments that have NOTHING to do with C19 relief. The pork is nothing short of monstrous. I will post a summary when I get through it all. I have lost all faith in our government to be responsible. I fault the GOP and the President for signing this piece of manure. I understand his feet are held to the fire with political blackmail, but this $2 TRILLION frivolous debt is obscene. At least 50% of it is entirely pork and fluff. Raylan
Nancy got her ass handed to her on social media and the Democrats blanched and fled as fast as they could away from her 1,200 page bill she showed up back in town with that had nationwide ballot harvesting, parts of the green new deal, and government oversight of any corporations accepting funds and control of appointments to their boards of directors. She and other democrats had been writing their House bill for some time and their plan was for her to come back to town and torpedo the senate bill via the senate democrats and then when that bill was sunk, quickly pass their House bill and then say the senate must pass it ASAP due to the crisis. What she didn't count on was the vicious backlash on social media to her torpedoing the senate bill that made her allies in the house and senate and even parts of the media run for cover. The senate democrats then came to heel and worked with some minor negotiations to finish and vote through the initial bill leaving her with no play except to pass the bill in the House or look even worse though I don't think she even had enough support at that point to block it. The bill as passed still has major issues and adds too much debt, the only hope is that it can prevent a sustained and deeper recession. Way too much pork still too, but nothing passes the house or senate without tons and tons of pork. Maybe this time working people and truly small business with get at least a pitance of the spending which normally they don't get even that. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.... but my understanding is all adults. I didn’t see anything about a tax return. I thought it was a flat $1000 no matter what. If it went by tax returns then what about retirees? I don’t know..... there’s so much stuff floating around it’s hard to keep up.

bgavin
Digging through the 880 pages of this bill... I find at least 50% of the bill is pure pork.
