The order said you can go out for food, gas, medical supplies etc. You can also go out and play in your yard and walk the dog. So if you're driving are the police officers going to stop and ask where you're going? I'm going to the grocery store officer!! This is unrealistic and unenforceable.

In Ohio the governor closed just about all businesses except for grocery stores and retail and "suggested" everyone stay at home and don't go out unless you have to. I was out yesterday, I went to the bank, ATM, went to the mall and walked 2 miles and stopped at a grocery store to get some fried chicken! I gotta have my fried chicken!!

But....but....but....but, we gotta do something!

Yep, let's bust our butts to make things worse for the greatest part of the population.

The only way to beat this thing is to stop its spread and the only way to do that is to not have contact with infected people. Since people refuse to take this seriously and self isolate them the government will have to make it mandatory.

Like it or not it’s necessary. You may not care about getting sick but how many people will you infect that do care and who won’t survive?

BULL!!!

Socialism / communism just took one more step forward.

19,000 known cases, just over two hundred deaths.....in a population of over 350,000,000.

And your solution is? And those odds are going to get worse every day if we just ignore the problem

I guess we start doing this every flu season.

This is much deadlier and far more virulent than the normal flu strains with no vaccination.

Get serious this is no joke .

That is yet to be determined. 19000 / 200 is .01% and not as deadly as the flu here. There is no way we will ever know how deadly this really is as there is absolutely no way to know how many have already had it or currently have it.

Should we as a nation take caution, practice social distancing, wash our hands, and take this seriously? Yes

Should we completely shut down and kill people economically? No

Depends on what year you draw your stats from .  Digging into it it seems that "normal" influenza has a mortality of somewhere between about 0.4% and close to 2%.  This, in the US, seems to be around 1%.  That it is "far more virulent" has yet to be seen.

I keep reading things like, "Well, we have vaccines for the flu!" as if somehow that makes it better.  And about every three or four years there seems to be a new strain of influenza for which there is no vaccine.

They also tell you that the flu vaccine will not necessarily stop you from getting the flu. I know people that got the flu vaccine and got the flu. They didn't die but they were lucky according to the stats!

If you don’t think this is serious then you need to take a look at Italy. Eight hundred deaths today alone and it hasn’t peaked yet. Those people died alone with no family or friends to comfort them

I'm not suggesting a we ignore it, just use some common sense.  This knee jerk hystaria is much more dangerous that the disease.

Wash your hands, don't sneeze or cough without a tissue, stay out a distance from other people: all things we should have been doing since we were kids.

If you are feeling ill, stay home.  Always did.  never wanted anyone else to get my cold, measles, mumps, or pink eye.

Wash you clothes  often and don'r wear the same thing daily.  Don't shake hands, hug, or kiss anyone.

I went to the grocery yesterday and watched a  clerk open a package of and turn it so she could see the bar code,WITHOUT GLOVES.  I only saw one employee wearing gloves.

They refused to use my cloth shopping bags because "we don't know where they have been or who has handled them", but they handled and used their own PLASTIC bags for my purchases.  None were wearing face masks.  "The management won't allow us to."

First no paper bags (to save the trees), then no plastic bags to (save the oceans), and now back to plastic bags.

The whole thing is totally irrational and I have predicted since it all started that it will be over by mid-May.  In the meantime we are destroying our economy, people's ' businesses and jobs, and altering our lives in ways we will never recover from.

Someone said "There may be more deaths from the collapse of the economy than the virus itself"!!:o
