Win 10 update

Howdy,

Windows 10 has a big update.

it took over an hour and I have comcast with pretty fast service.

Before you click start, you might want to do backups and be sure

you can have that time out of your schedule.

Consider doing the update when traffic is down, like maybe not 9 to 5.

Best

YIKES!
Thank you for that warning!

EDIT TO ADD:

I am not entirely awake, the mind is slow, this is the second time I made an initial comment and then had to come back to finish the thought.

Coffee hasn't hit bottom.

Other poor and pitiful excuses haven't floated to the surface yet.

El Governor of Ohio (rancid comments omitted) said everyone possible should work from home and the Internet services said "We can handle the increased traffic!"

Talk about great timing!

With everyone in your neighborhood working from home, I'm willing to bet your internet connection will be really slow today......Just saying

After I had a Win 10 update completely trash my OS, I am very leery of updates from then and whenever possible hit the "later" button.  When I talked to Microsoftabout it they told me "Yeah, we've had that happen to some customers".  My reply was "If you know this could happen, XXX? Why are you telling people to update. Shouldn't you fix the glitch BEFORE you send it out?" He basically told me "sh*t happens with software."

#1 - create a System Image backup to an external USB disk.
#2 - create the bootable recovery DVD

You will need both, sooner or later.

Win10 is the best, so far, for doing an "in place" upgrade.
Download the Win10 media creation tool, and create the latest and greatest Win10 on USB or DVD.
Uninstall all anti-virus, malwarebytes, etc, etc.
Reboot your machine normally, insert the media.
Run the "setup" program on the media to do the in-place upgrade.

If you have an older machine like Win7 or newer, this will generate a freebie serial number, so you don't have to buy a Win10 license.

Howdy,

I got up early and just hit update without thinking.

So I was ahead of the crowd working from home.

Right now I bet that update would take all day.

First, Back up everything onto a stand-alone external hard drive.....label and date/time-mark that backup drive!

We should be doing that on a regular basis anyway.
