97 win repair book

Does anyone make a good book on the in workings of the 97 shotgun?    Not disassembly  but the  actual how the parts work together and adjustments.    Have see the Maker-Wright videos, but looking for more.   Something like the Kuhnhasen books for handguns     Thanks   GW

About the most comprehensive is the AGI video by Bob Dunlap on the 97 -

https://www.americangunsmith.com/product/winchester-97-pump-shotgun

Kuhnhausen hasn't gotten to a 97 writeup.

Good luck, GJ

G.W.Wade I have a hand book  for Identification, Stripping & Assembly, Service & Maintenance, Operation & Function, Illustrated Parts List, Accessories & Spares, Historical  Memoranda, Additional References.. This is for a 12ga Winchester 97..

Price at the time was only $5.00. telephone # 1-215-438-2456   www.rayrillingarmsbooks.com

Distribution: Ray Riling Books 6844 Gorsten St. Philadrlphia, Pa 19119 USA

They also carry around 30 other Handbooks on a variety of  Firearms.

The book to me is very well worth the $5.00. It may be more today as I got it some years ago.

You got nothing to lose pilgrim.  The book is 34 pages in length.  Also have the AGI  VHS & Disc & very good info with those by Bob Dunlap

It’s in the back of a 1066 repair manual  :o

Farmall or International Harvester?

It's filed under the topic: "When All Else Fails to Repair the Tractor," isn't it?   <_<

good luck, GJ

This is the third or fourth recommendation for the
AGI (American Gunsmithing Institute) video covering

dismantling, repair, maintenance and reassembly of

the Win97 Shotgun.  Bob Dunlap is the gunsmith on the video.

I don’t know what the video costs today, but it’s worth every cent.

These videos used to be about $40, but could sometimes be less,

if on sale.  They likely cost more, now, but are likely worth more, now.

He wrote the book on the 97.

"He" would be: William Longiotti

And "the book" would be:

A comprehensive guide to the Winchester model 1897: Everything you ever wanted to know about the Winchester model 1897 shotgun

One place to find that recently written (2016) book is:

https://www.amazon.com/comprehensive-guide-Winchester-model-1897/dp/1533264929/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=longiotti&qid=1583858520&sr=8-1

Although the description and chapter index of it does not lead me to believe it has what the OP wanted, which was techniques to understand, adjust, tune and make race-ready a 97.

Good luck, GJ
