Father Kit Cool Gun Garth
Thanks Joe....awesome pics. Can't get my cellphone to take that great a picture, but then, it didn't cost a billion dollars. Looking at the images, Salvador Dali comes to mind...... Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
As I understand it, much of that is not actually visible. Colors are assigned to different wavelengths, then the images are colorized to help interpret what is happening.
Sixgun Sheridan
There are colors, but they're a lot more washed out in real life than what these images show. The best image I've seen so far was one taken just a few thousand miles above the atmosphere. You could actually see the varying heights of the cloud tops. EDIT: Actually those pictures are inside the article. .

I get the scientific rationale, but it also makes for beautiful photography which generates public interest which generates tax dollars.
Ramblin Gambler
What are those lines in the second picture? Is that something really there, or is that were some pics were being stitched together?
Widder, SASS #59054
Kinda funny how ALL the colors are the same colors we have here on Earth. I mean, can't even Jupiter produce its own color schemes? ..........Widder
