Lawdog Dago Dom
Since the Illinois legislature has done such a bang-up job with violent crime and repeat offenders, they must go that extra mile so that we can sleep in peace. They are proposing Garden Regulation. Soon there will be waiting periods for cruciferous vegetables, high capacity tomato plant registration, and fingerprinting for concealed fruit. Wish this was just sarcasm, but you can read for yourself here: https://edgarcountywatchdogs.com/2020/02/state-representative-harper-wants-to-give-state-and-local-government-the-power-to-regulate-your-garden/

Sedalia Dave
Just think of what they can do with all those permit fees. OH wait; the administrative costs will exceed the total revenue brough in via permitting fees and fines by a factor of 100. But don't worry your elected officials will ensure that the jobs created to administrate this program are the text book definition of nepitism. Pat Riot
I do not need to read the full article to know what this is and which party is promoting it. That party has become a party of children. Children that appear to be adults but children nonetheless. They act like people that haven’t matured beyond 7th grade but they have somehow learned politi-speak and have learned to manipulate others with similar minds....hey wait a minute! This is a metaphor for their political practices. You see, they equate people to vegetables and land or their area of control as a garden. They wish to force diversity and enlightenment on folks but they just can’t get to everyone so they need to cull the population to get the kind of people they want. This garden initiative represents future experimentation with society. The bureaucrats will practice with your gardens then move on to utilizing what they have learned in society. They will learn phrases like; “You have too many honey dew melons and too much cauliflower. They lack pigmentations, which indicates possible carcinogenic tendencies so therefore must be replaced with more colorful selections of fruit and vegetables.” This lesson equates to future societal manipulation and statements like; ”Our community has too many (insert descriptor here). We must therefore replace these with others that represent the community that we wish to build on and harvest their ideas.” It’s a vast conspiracy! They start with lowly unthinking fruits and vegetables but over time build their practices so that they can manipulate and harvest like-thinking fruits and vegetables to support their ideas of a utopian society built off of seventh grade principles and emotions. We are doomed!...
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
Carried to an extreme (which IS what this measure is about) one would not be allowed to trade , for example, surplus tomatoes with a neighbor for their surplus peas. Nonsense. Of course one would be able to make such trades. And it goes without saying that this trading would require paid-for permits, would be closely monitored, a filing of confidential reports would be required post-trading season, and the trades would be taxed. And if one ever decided to run for political office, said confidential reports would have to be publicly disclosed with the understanding that they would be severely critiqued, and the candidate would be chastised and ridiculed based on the content of the reports regardless of their content, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Uh... that is, if the grower/candidate was a member of a certain political party.
