Do any of you cowboys know if Tru Ivory

Grips is still in business? I have tried to contact them via e-mail and phone for weeks to no avail. They make beautiful grips, or they did. Thanks,

They've been out of business for a few years now. Check out the Resin-S ivory. It's better quality than Tru-Ivory with grain in it and even feels like ivory. It's also not nearly as brittle as tru-ivory.

Here's another option....

It may not be "elephant" ivory, but Wooley Mammoth ivory is completely unregulated.

And it looks great too, as the pic below will testify...

I just didn't like the mother of pearl grips that came with the pistol.

Not completely unregulated. Illegal here in California.

I did not know that.

But, why?   What's the rational?

Don’t feel bad. Why would you know? It’s usually safe to assume in California if it can be regulated, it will be. Unless it’s something that will adversely affect the wealthy businesses, Hollywood, or any politician.

As for the rationale, my best guess is that the geniuses in Sacramento are worried about mammoth and mastodon becoming extinct. Bless their hearts.

Save the elephants (and mammoths...and mastodons) from extinction by poachers.

Oregon's law only mentioned elephants and mammoths as originally proposed.

I inquired re mastodons and one of the sponsoring legislators thought they were the same animal.

W.P.  I picked up a card from a vendor at our local gun show that makes Ivory grips, I think he said he used walrus. He is in Coos Bay, Or.  If you want his info. I can get it for you.

Walrus are a Federally protected species and have been for maybe 50(?) years.  Their ivory tusks were the principal incentive for hunting them almost to extinction.  So why are some species’ ivory prohibited to possess(?) or for use, but not the Walrus?  (a rhetorical question...no answer necessary).  It sure looks beautiful as Colt SAA grips, that’s for sure.

Anyway,

I am the Walrus!  goo goo ga-joo!
