Three Foot Johnson
If you're planning on shooting it in Cowboy Action, the .56-.50 is the only allowed Spencer caliber.
Smiling Wolf
45 Colt is not allowed? S.W.
Three Foot Johnson
Yes, but it's not a Spencer caliber. There were - .56-.56 Spencer .56-.52 Spencer .56-.50 Spencer .56-.46 Spencer There never was a cartridge called the .45 Spencer or .45 Colt Spencer. Repros have been available in .56-.50, .45 Colt, .44-40, and .44 Russian, all of which are legal, while none of the other Spencer cartridges are. Larry Romano may have made them in other calibers. Please see the shooting categories for further information Rifle Calibers - Must be centerfire of at least .32 caliber and not larger than .45 caliber. - Must be in a caliber commonly available in revolvers. Examples include, but are not limited to, .32-20, .32 Magnum, .357 Magnum, .38 Special, .38-40, .44-40, .44 Special, .44 Magnum, and .45 Colt. The only allowed exceptions are the .25-20 and .56-50. Three Foot Johnson
Correct, the only Spencer cartridge allowed is the .56-.50.
Cheatin Charlie
I do not understand the rules that way. It says to me all common pistol calibers are legal "and" also 25-20 and 56-50 even though they are not pistol calibers.
Three Foot Johnson
Correct. They are all legal main match rifle cartridges, whether that be in a Marlin, 1866, 1873, Spencer, etc., but the only one of the four Spencer cartridges allowed is the .56-.50. Any of the aforementioned legal main match rifle cartridges would be legal in a Spencer, but the only Spencer cartridge allowed is the .56-50 Spencer. The .56-.56 Spencer, .56-.52 Spencer, and the .56-.46 Spencer are not.
