Alpo
Reading a Spenser novel. They are trying to bust a big time drug dealer. Having a meeting at the police station to discuss it. "With us was a large mean AFT cop..." AFT cop? I've heard of ATF (possible typo) but what would they have to do with drugs? American federation of teachers? Anyone know what an AFT cop is? Cat Brules
It does sound like it’s a “typo”. ATF sounds like “armed task force,” or something similar, but even that doesn’t make a lot of sense. And, AFT....? Maybe it will be explained later, as you read more. Cat Brules
Alpo
Maybe Loophole will chime in. Story takes place in Boston. Maybe it's a Massachusetts thing.
LawMan Mark, SASS #57095L
ATF. Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Now generally referred to as BATF.

If it was a drug bust with federal assistance, it probably should have been the DEA, although massive amounts of drugs go hand-in-hand with illegal gun trafficking, too. I been a cop for 36 years, come September. In all those years, I've never heard of an acronym or a slang reference to a branch, office, department or individual cop using AFT. It's either a typo, or an outright mistake on the part of the author. American Federation of Teachers is the closest thing Google has to offer. Ozark Huckleberry
Might be an imaginary team the author created for that story, either in that book or in an earlier book of a series. Anti-Fugitive Task Force?
Loophole LaRue, SASS #51438
Never heard of any local law enforcement agency using "AFT". Unless it is one of those ghost written books in which the publisher is trying to imitate the style of the deceased originator of the character (Robert B. Parker), I'd suggest that such a typo by Parker is unlikely; he was very sharp on the details, and certainly knew enough about law enforcement (and Boston policing in particular) not to make such a glaring error. I'd suggest an editor error, or a production error. LL ( a great admirer of Parker, and particularly of Jesse Stone, Cole & Hitch)

Ramblin Gambler
Has anyone called them yet to ask which explosive pairs best with coors light, marlboro reds, and an AR15? When they answer that, ask about Rye Whiskey, Cigars, and Colt SAAs. (that's just to test them, if they don't answer black powder they aint worth a lick)
