Pat Riot
Use rubbing alcohol. Wet it good and get it on in one motion. If it gets stuck get it back off quickly then re-saturate the shaft or the inside of the grip (or both) with rubbing alcohol. Use the 70% alcohol or what is labeled “rubbing alcohol”. It’s 30% water. Don’t use the 91% alcohol labeled “isopropyl alcohol”. It evaporates too quickly to work with. Once you have it on leave it sit and dry for 24 hours and it will be nice and snug and will not move. This works for motorcycle and bicycle grips too.

J-BAR #18287
Plain old everyday mineral spirits works fine. Plug the hole in the bottom of the grip with a wooden tee and fill the grip with mineral spirits. Then empty the grip over the tape on the shaft. You have about one minute to tweak the position to perfection.
