NOW, those are the requirements... but 30 years ago when I acquired a couple of guns in CA those weren't in place if buying used, face to face... etc... CA does NOT know how many guns I bought... and NEVER will.

I was the 2,381 person to buy ammunition in CA today.
So far, CA has collected (at least) $2,381 in background check fees.  Today.
Those not having a firearm registered at their drivers license address pay a $19 background check fee.

I don't own any "cowboy" cartridge guns. Most of you "cowboy" folks are reliving TV/Hollywood westerns with your cartridge guns and buscadero rigs.

When the Civil War ended, many ex-soldiers and ex-slaves went to Texas in the mid-to-latter part of the 1860's-early 1870's where there were lots of wild cattle and no Single Action Army guns. This is what the cowboys might have carried, among other cap and ball revolvers.

Jim

Seriously... you don't think cowboy upgraded their equipment as they were able?  The "cowboy era" stretched from the end of the CW to well into the turn of the 19th century.  Colt & Remington sold a lot of SAs in that period... not all were bought by cowboys, but, there were a LOT of folks that inhabited that era, besides cowboys... same as a lot of today's cowboy action shooters portray folks other than cowboys.

I think an equally inappropriate, but possibly more accurate question, is: "How many gun safes do you own?"

PS: I should have added, "...in each room of each building?"

Alas, all my firearms were lost some years ago in a tragic boating accident in Texas. Sadly they were not insured for loss in a boating accident especially a "tragic" boating accident. Happily at least they are still safely stored, in Davey Jones locker.

Gee, I have no idea. Since many of mine were acquired before GCA 68, no else does either!

Purchasing ammunition in Idaho is difficult. You need cash, a cheque or a credit card.

That's what makes it a "tragic" boating accident, happened during an electrical storm, all electronics were knocked out! ;)
