I am looking for suggestions for who works on Charles Daly Miroku 500’s.
Anyone have any experience with a gun Smith they recommend with these?

thanks,

Anyone who does Browning BSS work knows the Miroku 500 inside out!  Essentially the same gun.

Ol # 4 does great jobs on 'em.

Good luck, GJ

The Daly 500 was made by Miroku and is the predecessor of the Browning BSS; it was in production 1963-76. You can Google Chuck Hawks' excellent review of it.Main differences are double triggers and extractors on the Daly. Same quality as the BSS. Had one and sold it like an idiot. Had Cody C. do a trigger job on it. He said it had the same innards as the early SKB doubles which were apparently made by Miroku. They (Miroku) currently make the Browning BT99 and Clitori, both quality guns.

I started out with CAS in 2001, using a Stoger and several other doubles. A few year later switched to a 97. Last year switched back to a double, in the interim sold the Daly, an AYA and several other really fine doubles. Like an idiot, cannot retain what I perceive as safe queens. My patience level sucks.

I have two of these   One is marked Daly and Moroku, and the other just says Moroku.  I have no idea who the importer was on it.   The first one was set up beautifully by Goatneck before he passed away.  Like the OP, I am in the market for someone to set up the second one which is still bone stock.

I'm looking very hard at a Miroku / Daly for the same reasons.
I follow Chuck Hawks and he gives a sterling description of the materials quality and workmanship in the Miroku.

Doc Noper will be doing the work.
I was just asking about who knows about these.
I wasn’t looking for a “specialist” but I wouldn’t take a Ford to a Chevy dealer for work either.

There is a Charles Daly on GunBroker that I'm very interested in.
These don't come up all that often, so I am torn between a 1970s era with known Miroku workmanship and metalurgy, or getting a Made in Turkey that has been slicked up by a cowboy smith.

I need a stealth account.

Then how can I stalk you and run the bid up

:lol::lol::lol:

Just kiddin' pard, I'm more likely not to bid if I see you already have.

I learned a harsh lesson on GunBroker today... lost out on a Charles Daly.
The "ending time" is not my time zone, but the time zone of the seller.

I looked a couple hours before the stated ending time, and the item sold for less than I was willing to pay.
Live and learn.

Still looking.

Are you by chance Tomb125?

No.
I show up as "bfgavin"
I wasn't going to bid on it early, as that just drives the price up.
I was not counting on it closing in EST when I am in PST.

:(

Were you "watching" it? GB will send you an email 6 hours and 1 hour before an item ends if you "watch" it with your account?

I almost always put down my max or close to it and let GB bid for me; that way I can forget about it.

No, not on "watching" status.

I'm a very old hand at eBay sniping, which GB circumvents by their 15 minute rule.

I also know if one bids early, there are folks who will play games trying to shill your bid up higher.
When I bought my Harley, some guy was doing this, because it was obvious I wanted the scooter.
I still got a good deal, but not a helluva steal.

I had my laptop set up at my lodge event, and was going to bid 15 minutes before the end of auction.
I got burned because GB does not state the ending time as a time zone.
Silly me.. assuming 12:47 meant that in MY time zone, not somewhere East of PST.
