West Virginia: Bill Introduced to Strengthen Statewide Preemption

On Wednesday, January 8, West Virginia state Senator Charles Trump (R-15) introduced Senate Bill 96, which would further expand statewide preemption to include more tools for self-defense, not just firearms.

Senate Bill 96 would prevent any municipality in West Virginia from attempting to limit what tools law abiding citizens can use for self-defense so long as they are in accordance with state law.  This preemption legislation will prevent a patchwork of laws throughout the state that could potentially and unknowingly turn a law-abiding citizen into a criminal.
