Pro-tip:
If you are going to try to register a stolen car at the DMV, don’t bring your backpack full of drugs and guns with you.

Yesterday, officers from the Hayward area contacted an individual at the Hayward DMV who was unknowingly attempting to register a stolen car he had purchased.  After determining that he had purchased the vehicle without prior knowledge of it being stolen they advised him the car would be impounded and he was free to leave.  The individual asked the officer for his backpack out of the car.  Our officer explained to him he would have to prove the backpack was his due to it being inside a stolen vehicle.  The individual said there was DMV paperwork with his name inside the backpack.  Upon checking the backpack, The officers located the DMV paperwork with the individuals name on it as well as a stolen and loaded CZ 75 pistol, a large amount of marijuana and edibles, over 80 grams of crack cocaine, over 7 grams of powder cocaine, and over 26 grams of methamphetamine as well as a scale, bags for distribution, and a spooky scary skeleton mask.

It does seem to emphasize that criminals are both stupid and dangerous.

Too bad they can't be kept locked up for longer periods after the first offence.

Maybe, if the half-way houses they are supposed to go to were located in the Parole Board members neighbourhoods?
