The Wall Street Journal summarized the multitude of programs planned by Presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren (yes, MY Senator - much to my chagrin).

Her plan for guns and gun owners is ruthlessly clear:

Gun control: Create a “federal licensing system for the purchase of any type of firearm or ammunition.” Raise taxes to 30% on guns and 50% on ammo. Ban sales of “assault weapons,” and make current owners “register them under the National Firearms Act.” Pass a law to let shooting victims “hold the manufacturer of the weapon that harmed them strictly liable.”

Any doubt about the future of the shooting sports, and of the right to self-defense, under such an administration?

If you can read her whole set of proposals (and their cost) on line, it's at:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/elizabeth-warren-has-a-plan-oh-my-11577404548?mod=hp_opin_pos_2

Hold onto your wallets and your rights.  It's the reincarnation of Soviet-style central economic planning, confiscatory taxation, government controlled health care, redistribution of wealth, elimination of private education, free college (but only in state institutions), termination of the oil and gas industries, nationalization of corporations, and the whole remainder of Joe Stalin's plans for centralized control.

Holding the manufacturer responsible for the mis-use of the product would get VERY interesting, once lawyers decide that beer and alcohol brewers and distillers could be sued for someones drunken escapade.

And think of the possibilities of raiding the deep pockets of car and truck manufacturers when drivers kill or main someone: "It's the car's fault I went through that red light, not mine!"

Edit: If the brewers, distillers, car, truck and boat manufacturers etc don't join the fight to stop this kind of idiocy, they are very short-sighted and will ultimately pay for it.

Big Time!

Maybe then gun owners will get off their lazy big mouths and do something....But, I doubt it. We seem to have an abundance of hot air and lard-asses.

Seems to me just recently in Virginia there are 80 some counties of gun owners who HAVE gotten off their asses.

But probably too little and too late.

The declarations of the counties have no real legal effect; they are, at best, a showing of some discontent.  The most likely end result will be some kind of less restrictive compromise - but additional restrictions, none the less.

I prefer to remain somewhat more optimistic.

I think the Right in this country has finally gotten to the point where they are tired of being pushed around, enough is enough, and this will serve as a wake up call of sorts.

As we have seen in Colorado and now Virginia duly elected sheriffs are stating they will not comply nor enforce unconstitutional laws. It's not like this is a non issue at this point. It is deadly serious business when certain law makers who obviously and pasionately hate the US Constitution and about half the people in this country are purposely targeting law abiding, good and honest citizens. These citizens are stating they are done being persecuted by the other side. They are done being blamed and scapegoated and vilified by the political opposition for crimes they have not commited and for holding a differing viewpoint about their country.

There will be people, many people who stand up and do fight.

I am looking forward to a second Trump term where more conservative and or originalist judges and justices are appointed. There will be a fight in the courts. It may come to a SCOTUS decision, but in the meanwhile, all eyes are on Virginia.

Did she EVER actually read the 2nd Amendment?

I'm sure she thinks it applies to muzzle loaders only. ;)

The loudest people at the gunshows are old, overweight smokers that wear sweatpants and shoes with velcro straps. They are not going to do much fighting.

We as a group are aging out and the left knows this.

The loudmouths are just that. Blowhards. Anywhere.

Its always the ones who don't broadcast themselves, the quiet types, that are the ones to watch.

As far as I can tell the freedom loving pro 2nd Amendment people assembling peacefully as prescribed under the 1st Amendment in Virginia, county by county are not blowhards.  There are plenty of videos showing intelligent, thoughtfully articulated pro 2nd Amendment debate points for our position delivered by many good citizens in Virginia.

The current governor of Virginia however perfectly embodies what a loud mouth blowhard looks like and sounds like.

If left unchecked this whole ideology of the left will lead to a Civil War.  The hypocrisy is endless as they try to justify and force feed America how they want the country to be run.  I respect that their are other views, but how can an educated American possibly think that socialism is a good idea when people all over the world are striving for freedom from government.  Some of the blame should go the the voters that vote people into office ( like Warren and AOC ), and then re-elect them.

I don’t believe there will be another Civil War, at least for the next 100 years. There will be social and political upheaval but if we ever deteriorate into an armed internal conflict the only winners will be outside our borders.

Corporations and Wall Street cannot abide a civil war therefore the politicians that float ideas that could lead to a civil war will be dealt with.

You see, they need us up in arms to stay distracted from what's really going on but they don't want us REALLY up in arms.

The Left Wing and the Right Wing are part of the same bird.

Let's pray it never comes to pass.

Warren's election would truly be the rise of the Fourth Reich.

It isn't just Warren, folks. ALL of the Democratic candidates are floating around gun control ideas that would've been considered too far-out extreme just a few years ago. They've become emboldened by the socialist revolution that's taking place among young millennials in this country, and believe that this time they can actually get this crap to stick. Nearly all of these candidates are from left-leaning states and/or large cities where gun ownership is already very difficult, so they fail to see how their proposals would be received in Arizona or Montana. They're singular-minded and want to bring their big-city politics even to small-town USA where they're not welcome.

I love  Idaho!!!  :D

Nullification and the Tenth  Amendment are our bulwarks.

Millenials are "Those that forget history are doomed to repeat it". I asked my uncle many years ago why his two daughters were so liberal. He sails "Wait until they  get their first paychecks and look at the stubs!!!" Now, they are even to the right of me and I;m in danger of falling off the world!

That's the problem for them. They don't care about States with a low electoral vote count. They want States like CA (a given), NY, FL and several others. They don't seem to realize (as a certain other person did) that the lower votes add up..........must be the new millennial math.

Yesterday I placed my shotgun on the front porch, gave it six shells, and noticing it had no legs, placed it in a wheelchair to help it get around.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the boy across the street mowed my lawn, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near my house.

After 10 hours, I checked on the shotgun. It had not rolled outside and it had not killed anyone in spite of the many opportunities that had been presented.

Can you imagine how surprised I was with all the hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people? Either the killing is by people misusing guns, or I’m in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

So now I’m off to check on my spoons, because I hear they make people fat.

That's two cracks in this thread about millenials.

Please take note that Warren was born in 1949 - that makes her a boomer, not a millenial.  And Bernie and Uncle Joe are even older.

And while we are at it, let's remember that there are a lot of folks serving in the military, and even some participating in this sport, that fall within the age classification of millenial.  My son is a millenial, an NRA Life Member, and you could not get much further to the right.

Such labels are useless, and serve only to distort the real issue - that so-called liberal or progressive doctrines are threatening the future of this country, and we all need to stand up and demand to be heard.
