Abe Lincoln's Mystery Mallet!

Now that's more interesting than I thought, just reading the title!
My first thought was it was like a hatchet Granddad had.

He said it was Abraham Lincoln's hatchet.

He said it's had four or five heads and at least a dozen handles but it was sure enough old Abe's hatchet!

I watched that a few days ago - and I'm quite confident that if I tried to make one the wood would snap fer sure....  :rolleyes:

I would think that steaming the handle part would make it easier to assemble.

Steaming is good as far as making the wood temporarily flexible.  Probably not practical for this application, though, as it will also cause the wood to swell - and as these are pretty precisely cut pieces, they likely would not fit when steamed.
