Trailrider #896
One of the Apollo astronauts (forget which one) had been a Navy pilot, and was flying alone at night, going to land on a carrier. He had a total electrical system failure! It was pitch black and there was no way he was going to find the carrier. He looked down and saw a trail of phosphorescent glow in the water. It was made by the ship stirring up the photoplancton in the water. He followed the trail and found his carrier and landed successfully. Maybe not quite as spooky as the "Shepherd", but fortunate nonetheless. The late aviation writer and veteran pilot before, during and after WWII, Ernest K. Gann described a few of these weird happenings in his book, "Fate Is The Hunter". Faith or fate? As Robert Scott titled his book, "God Is My Copilot". Happy Chanukah! Merry Christmas!
