Lefty Wheeler
I have an SKB SXS with the screws stripping in the wood forearm. If I drill holes all the way through the wood and insert metal plugs then use screws from the metal piece into the plugs they will show on the outside. There would not be any operating enhansment just a way to hold the two pieces together. Would this be an external modification?
PaleWolf Brunelle, #2495L
I would consider that a legal repair as opposed to a modification. Same as using pins or dowels to repair a cracked buttstock.

J. Mark Flint #31954 LIFE
Lefty, Such a repair can be done by drilling most of the way through with a small forestner bit and epoxy/gluing in a plug of quality hardwood to repair the forend and not have excessive external repairs that show. Just throwing that out there
