I've been watching the first season of Ironside.

 

I noticed that in 1967 the city of San Francisco had no stop signs and no traffic lights.

 

You come up to the corner and you turn. Doesn't matter if it's a cross street or not. No one even slows down. But no one ever hits another car either.

 

Kinda amazing when you think about it.

There's a VW Beetle that I often encounter on the way to work. The woman driving it drives so slow that I'm always having to pass her. One day I swore I passed her twice in one commute and immediately thought of the Beetle in Bullitt. How she got past me at some point I don't know, but it might be the nature of VW Bugs that they're so slow you end up passing them more than once. Some sort of creepy space/time continuum thing, I guess.
