Attempted Kidnapping or What?

I got this from a fellow shooter, from a friend of his, so I pass it on as legit. In the Houston suburbs, to the southwest. Nice houses, got a ghetto.

We've always got to be vigilant. There are some bad people out there. And not just bad GUYS, either.

Long Post about my personal experience with possible kidnapping, robbery, trafficking or whatever it could have been...But God!

The girls were at a sleepover over so me and Hayden went grocery shopping for junk food. I sat in the parking lot for about 5 minutes loading my digital coupons in the car. I got out and went in for about an hour like normal. While shopping Hayden kept saying that a kid keeps staring and wants me to come play with him but I wasn’t focused and ignored it like normal(my kids just be talking). I told him well be nice to the kid smile and say hi. So then that’s when I started noticing that these same two ladies had been following me on every aisle with this kid and their basket was empty after being in there an hour. Well it had like 1 or 2 items. Mine was full. When they saw I noticed them one lady came over and started asking questions about Hayden trying to be friendly like another mom getting to know another mom then I realized the other lady was on the other side of my basket so I grabbed Hayden and was rolling away and she started begging to show Hayden pictures of this sunset in her phone. It was very weird. We rolled away to the next aisle and they kept following us. Hayden started saying it was weird, something felt weird and he didn’t like those ladies. It’s very uncommon for Hayden to feel uncomfortable. At that point I snapped into reality like oh this is something more serious. Then I started paying attention. Went to pay and noticed they were right there in the next line with no basket acting like they were buying candy. The other lady had went outside with the kid and one was left in the store. I told the check out guy to call security and have them escort me to my car. I told them someone was following me but I was so nervous I didn’t think to call the cops which I regret now. They took me to my car and helped load the groceries. I left and they stayed but as I got on highway 6 I realized they were following me. I turned in my neighborhood and they turned so I turned out and I sped off and they chased me. Ran a few lights and turns and finally lost them and by this time my phone wasn’t working at all. This is the short version.  It was traumatizing because I was distracted and missed all the signs I heard about but never thought would happen to me and I can’t imagine what if something had happened to me or Hayden. When I got home I realized my side view mirrors were popped backwards. I guess it was like that so I couldn’t see someone coming on the side of me or so I would’ve got out the car at the store to fix it. And my coworker said it had happened to his wife the previous week too. She was followed by a white van. Be vigilant guys, people are really out there watching and waiting.

(Only reason I’m posting now is because my friends say they don’t take the stories they hear as serious because it’s other people so I felt I should share my experience because it’s real out there) It was the Kroger’s off Highway 6 and Fort Bend Tollway (Sienna Plantation, Fresno/Missouri City area) Happened 2-3 weeks ago

In my hometown YESTERDAY  a 15 year old girl got kidnapped and sexually abused in a scummer's car. She was walking home, mid afternoon.

Police did get the girl back and arrested the POS. Guess what? The guy had previously served time for molesting a 14 year old, was granted early release, and was now targeting his next victim.

There is only ONE WAY to deal with pedophiles!

Oh now... I can think of more than one.  And undoubtedly pretty effective ones at that.  ;)

Tattoo the crime on their forehead and put them in general population?

Fire ants come to mind. Although your method may take longer which is not a bad thing.

Something I ran into was an article that was the result of interviews with convicted rapists.  Aside from location and opportunity,  they listed the number one thing they look for is a women with long hair. In a ponytail or braided.  They come from behind and grab the victim by the hair and throw them to the ground.  No matter how physically fit or trained in defense,  being thrown down would disable the victim to further restraint.

I lectured both of our young adult granddaughters about this as they both have long hair.  They just felt embarrassed about the conversation and still wear their hair long.

What rate of twist is required to stabilize a railroad spike at 2500 fps?

For an effective range distance of 4", one revolution per minute is quite effective-as:Place railroad spike against skin, strike with a solid blow from a light framing hammer.(Heavier hammers may speed the process but might injure your wrist)

Interesting variations could include a designate a striker and let each member of the jury take turns rotating the spike or what ever the jury decides to do.  Don't get too playful as you could make the judge late for lunch and this is never good for judge/prosecutor relationships.

You may've seen in the very recent news, the rescue of an abducted eight year old girl from a motel room.
Concrete filled ram to breach the door, make entry, bring out perp who still tried to fight free.
The child was hidden in a laundry basket.
More than this I will not say.
Saw too much for too many years.

You can't expect women to all look like Sinéad O'Connor just avoid being attacked. Same reason for guys not wearing a tie just so they won't get choked if somebody decides to attack them. It's a shame we even have to be discussing things like this.

Well, reality sometimes puts us in literally, survival situations, yours or others’.   Talking about those things helps us survive and cope with the aftermath of the situations.  Talking about it also teaches and reminds us and others, that doing the right thing often isn’t easy.  And, more often than not, no one will do the right thing in immediate situations if you or some other centered person doesn’t do it....often at some measure of small or great risk to themself.

The outfit I retired from housed our county's Victim Services Department - a unit which existed to just what the name implies; to provide aid and advocacy to victims of crime and abuse.  Particularly domestic abuses, and worse.

As such, we housed the facilities for CFIT (Child Forensic Interview Team) interviews.  Children who were victims of the "worse" referenced above would be interviewed by psychologists or trained investigators in a private, protected environment.  In another room, detectives and prosecutors from the DA's office would monitor the interview via CCTV.  Needless to say, this was not pleasant duty; they had to hear stories most of us would not dare imagine.

One afternoon I happened to walk past the "observation room" after one such interview had just finished.  The door was open, and several of these investigator types were sitting about the small conference table, all looking glum.  I paused, stuck my head in, and said "Ya know... what we really need is a deterrent!"

They all looked at me in surprise, and one of the detectives asked, "Huh?  Whaddaya mean?"

"Well!" sez I.  "We oughtta rope off part of the parking lot and set up a gallows!  That might give some of those miscreants pause to think...!"

They glanced at each other, then looked back at me with expressions ranging from bewilderment to astonishment.

So I added with a smile, "And we can make it a fundraiser!"

That got their attention!  "Huh??"

"Why, sure!"  I continued.  "We can add a dunk tank mechanism!  We'll sell three balls for five bucks!  For five bucks, your choice, three chances to bean the bastard or aim for the trigger plate!"

That did it.

It took about five seconds for what I said to sink in, and then the room just erupted with guffaws.

From that point on, every time I'd cross paths with any of 'em they'd give a big smile.  :)

Victim/Witness Services is a branch of the DA’s Office, along with the Office of The Public Defender, correct?

In this county, no, although they do work closely with the DA's office.  It's part of the county's "Community Action Program," and provides provides counselling and advocacy services for victims (and witnesses), including helping them through the judicial system and even accompanying "clients" to court.  They also operate shelters, and help victims with everything from finding compensation to medical services to funeral expenses.

I could never do most of what they do.

However, over a dozen years ago I was asked to start a Cub Scout pack for the little boys in the program - some of whom lived with their moms in shelters.  How can you say "No" to a request like that?  So I did... ran it for about two years, until the budget cuts of the recession.  So many of the kids got to do things they'd never dreamed of, like crafts, field trips, Pinewood Derby, and even summer camp, but mostly just doing fun stuff in a safe environment.   That was an experience!  I'll always remember our first outing, when we took the guys to a Fresno Grizzlies baseball game.  Little eight-year old boy put his head on my shoulder and just crashed; the little tyke was totally exhausted - physically, mentally, and emotionally - after saying good-bye to his dad a couple of hours earlier when he was sent off to prison.
