I recall that Soldier of Fortune magazine used to have a monthly column. Improvised weapons, or possibly camouflaged weapons. So you could be armed in places you weren't supposed to be armed. One month they were talking about the rolled up magazine. You take a standard magazine - they used a copy of SOF - and you rolled up extremely tightly. And you put a piece of tape around both ends, so it doesn't unroll on you. You can throw that in your carry on, and airport security wouldn't pay any attention to it. And if somebody tried to hijack the plane, you had a foot-long striking weapon. Not a swinging weapon, like a blackjack. A poking weapon. But if you jab somebody in the belly, or in the face, or in the throat - it would get their attention. Of course, you did need to know how to use a striking weapon. 3 1 Quote
