I used to get to work at 5:30 in the morning. Route my deliveries, load my truck, etc. Some days we'd get that done about 7:30 or 8:00. Take about a 15 minute break before taking off to make the deliveries. Then the boss would come in, see us sitting there, and give us a "You've been here since 5:30. Why are you still here?"

Back in 91 or 92 I was working for this company that was making a doctor's office for Egypt. Three cargo containers - what are those, 12 foot square by 40 foot long? These were being set up, and once they got them to Egypt they would bolt them together and have this 40 foot by 36 foot doctor's office.

On this particular day the guy who had been put in charge of me and I were painting trim work. We had all this wooden trim lying on sawhorses, and we had just painted it. Once it was dry, we would turn it over and paint the other side.

There we are, kicked back in the shade of the cargo container, and the company president comes wandering by. Sees us and angrily says, "What the hell are you two doing!!??"

My supervisor says, "We're watching paint dry, boss".

He just walked off shaking his head.

Funny, when I was an outside plant supervisor for the phone company, a third of my crew had philosophy and psychology degrees!
