Ramblin Gambler
No one has ever doubted my wife was the vet and required an ID. At least not while I was around. But she also doesn't go around telling everyone either.

When a person says "Thank you for your service" how do you respond? I say "You're welcome" but it seems kind of lame.

If they are just saying it because they have to, like at Lowes or Home Depot when I show my ID for the military discount, I may say nothing at all. It depends on the sincerity of the gesture. bgavin
My favorite cap is one from my daughter's first command. Folks thank me for my service, and I say "I'll pass it along." When they ask, I say, "My daughter is the real cowboy. She just lets me wear the hat."

MizPete
When I say it, I mean it. Where I came from, everybody's Dad served (WWII). It was a given.
