2KidsPop
I acquired an 1863 Pedersoli Sharps in 45-70 awhile back. Its my first black powder rifle and I know little about it. It will only stay cocked if you push the triggers forward as you cock the hammer. It has set triggers. Would love to get it repaired / tuned up and learn to shoot it. Can't find a gun smith locally that's familiar with the rifle. Positive thoughts / suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
Goody, SASS #26190
This thread from 4 years ago addresses some possible issues. Even though they are not discussing the 1863 specifically The trigger systems should be the same. This link provided by Sedalia Dave in that thread details the function and adjustment of the firing system. http://www.bpcr.net/site_docs-results_schedules/documents/Double_and_Single_set_Trigger_Adjustment.htm
