Definition of mass shooting was moved to mean when a handful of people are shot injured/killed, yet this happens all the time and all around the country on a daily basis, but the VAST majority of it is strictly limited to the criminal element.  Which doesn't move the VAST majority of the population.  So when there is a mass shooting on the scale of El Paso, or Dayton, the media drums up hysterics about mass shootings, and circles back to daily occurrences, but doesn't mention the criminal fringe, and thus says we're in a middle of an epidemic of shootings.
