Old movies - Arsenic and Old Lace (Cary Grant, Peter Lorre) - The Thin Man (William Powell, Myrna Loy) - Duck Soup (Marx Brothers)- classics with style, funny and snappy.

Movies my kids say are old - Young Frankenstein - Airplane - stylish, funny, and quick witted. Honorable mention - Caddyshack (the best Rodney Dangerfield) and The Pink Panther with Peter Sellers.

Western - Evil Roy Slade and McClintock.

Honorable mention - not really a comedy per se but many funny scenes - The Quiet Man.

Amended to add per Pat's post - Monty Python's Holy Grail and The Princess Bride - shouldn't have left those off.

Villain was a good one, too.

Donovan's Reef for all time favorite.  It's a western if you consider the middle of the pacific western.

The Quiet Man ranks high as well

When it's 2a.m. and you can't sleep Cave Man is beyond hilarious.

We went to see that when my son was 4. Funny movie. When we left we were in the car and I asked him how he liked the movie.

”It was good”, he said. “And I didn’t even get kicked out”, he added, seemingly quite pleased with himself.

”Whaat?”, I said. Then my wife started to laugh.

“I don’t get it”, I said.

She said, “He must have heard me talking on the phone to my friend Leslie. I told her we were taking Billy to see Caveman because he’d probably get a kick out of it”.

No wonder he was on his best behavior.

My favorite movie of all time is The Great Race.

Sticking with comedies, my other favorites include:

The Princess Bride

Ghostbusters

Stripes

Young Frankenstein

Galaxy Quest

Blazing Saddles

Animal House

Blues Brothers

And to round out the top ten, the other night I caught North to Alaska. I forgot how much I enjoyed that movie.

Laurel and Hardy in The March of the Wooden Soldiers. It's the first movie that I remember seeing on TV back in the early 50s.

Bad Grandpa with Johnny Knoxville is sorta like it but much raunchier.

I watched Zombieland again last night with my family. We made an evening of it.  My son-in-law made dinner and then we watched Zombieland and had ice cream. We are going to see the new Zombieland movie today. Zombieland “Double Tap”. It came out this past Thursday.

No love for the Pink Panther films? Inspector Clouseau was my all-time favorite character when growing up.

Another good one was Planes, Trains, & Automobiles with Steve Martin and John Candy. As much as I hate Jim Carrey's politics his Liar, Liar was damn funny as well.
