They're crazy I tell you!" Nods of agreement from her dozen liberal friends The real problem with so-called red-flag laws is that many folks pressing to pass them are convinced -- anyone with a gun is dangerous and should be disarmed. Normal people don't own guns, is an article of faith on the progressive left. The desperately hoped for red-flag rule is a way, once and for all, to simply disarm people at will. After all, if that person has a gun, you could be killed on the spot--how much more dangerous could it get?! The gun type really isn't the issue. Guns are too dangerous to own, explaining why so many leftists are steadfastly gunless. But taking guns away from people can only be done by people with guns, an irony and clear and present danger most Americans easily see, which progressives cannot. Then this simplest truth is lost behind the red flag of unreasonable gun fear: If people are too dangerous to keep and bear their own arms they are too dangerous to be out on the street. These are people about to commit murder or worse, right? That's why they're targeted for mandatory no-knock late-night police raids. You can't leave them free with kitchen knives, matches, cars, black-market guns and now furious at you. Red-flag laws are bogus, typically lacking consequences even for phony charges and the harm that causes. Real restraining orders already exist and are unenforced, as news reports constantly remind you after spree killers are shot dead. Red flag laws are actually a deceptive means for gaining control of America's freedom to keep and bear arms. Link to comment
