Your modes of transport in the old west...if you were there

If you lived in the Old West during the period that you personify, like the most or reflected by the guns you shoot in Cowboy Action Shooting, what mode of transportation would you use in your current physical condition around town and country where you live?

Horseback

Buggy

Wagon

Taxi

Train

Walk

Automobile (if you shoot a 97 :P)

Or any mode not mentioned here.

Personally, I may have 2 modes.

- Horseback (another horse would be the buggy horse)

- Single horse buggy.

What do you think you’d prefer?

Buggy.

With good springs and a mounting stool to get into the seat.

Living in Amish country the preferred mode of transportation is a single horse buggy even for the teens. They ride quite well from their youth but usually only for fun. If it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for me .

As an aside I watched a six year old riding his pony across the pasture at a full gallop bareback he was in complete control

Primarily Horseback; however, on those numerous occasions on trips with the wife into town...

It's the single horse drawn buggy.

I might need an instruction manual.

Birdgun,

Keep in mind, us cowboys don't much take to read'in manuals, instructions, much less directions. :P

Being an itinerant trader and freighter, I'd have a wagon with four mules for my wares and as a place to sleep and cart my cooking gear, and a saddle horse for getting around.

Actually, because my business is growing so rapidly, I have six wagons and team, fifteen extra horses if needed and every one of my drivers has his own saddle horse with his own tack and duffle.

I know, holes in the radiator tend to render a automobile that a way. At least I would still know how to ride a horse.....always gotta look on the bright side.
