Subdeacon Joe
Yes, Priests Air-Bombed a Russian City With Holy Water to Stop All the “Drinking” and “Fornication” How dare the writer call an Antonov An-2 "rickety!"

Pat Riot
I can see it now...four old codgers sitting outside when the first one says, “Hey, I think it’s starting to rain. We better get inside.” Another says “What’ll we do inside?” The third one says “I don’t know, what do we do outside?” The fourth says “Drink?” The first says “Good idea, but let’s do it inside.”

Forty Rod SASS 3935
There's an Antonov at Planes of fame in Chino, CA. Biggest dang biplane you ever saw.
Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967
Just below the headline is the observation "It did not work." No wonder! "Holy Water Virga!" It all evaporated before it reached the ground!

Birdgun Quail, SASS #63663
Now don't run down Tver. One of my 15mm Napoleonic Russian Dragoon regiments is the "Tver Dragoons." They have gallantly fought in many of my little battles. But, before each battle, it is my understanding that they are blessed by an Orthodox priest. Tex Wilson
I skydived out of an AN-2 a few times, a unique Russian airplane I added to the list of planes I jumped from. It took forever to climb, 30 minutes to get to 3000 ft. just for a hop-n-pop.

Before Borodino: Still a common practice. (OK, these in the image below are Georgians, not Russians - don't be so picky) But it looks like the Moscow Patriarchate is looking at stopping the practice of blessing anything above the personal weapon level. My 15mm Moscovy Militia battalion (each figure represents 20 men) has a very similar flag with an icon of Christ. For some reason, the Moscovy's always fight above their lowly militia rating. To get picky here, the blue banner has one version of the Icon of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos. The large icon being carried is the Icon of Our Lady of Kazan (where the events in the above painting takes place). The icon on the banner of your troops: My 15mm Moscovy Militia battalion has a very similar flag with an icon of Christ. For some reason, the Moscovy's always fight above their lowly militia rating. appears to be the Icon Made Without Hands (also known as The Holy Napkin and The Icon of Edessa). Birdgun Quail, SASS #63663
Note in the painting the yellow flag with the red rays. http://warflag.com/napflags/flaghtml/ru1803_6.htm I think I have that unit; the Tarnopol Musketeers.
