Sadly, this seems to be the truth.

No, I actually don’t think Democrats hate our country. I think they want to change it and they try ridiculously hard not to offend anybody to gain votes. They may have thought that flags seemed too Republican. I don’t know who was in charge of the stage arrangement. The TV network?

Democratic Party is in disguise the Socialists Communist Party, with a lot of people not realizing this.

Because to the Dems, the American Flag is a symbol of racist oppression.  Just ask Colin K. and Nike.

I say, scroom! :FlagAm: :FlagAm:

Yep, they do hate our country - half or more of their fellow citizens who they describe as deplorable, racist, mysoginistic, nazi's; our constitution and bill of rights; our history; and our original flag. And they espouse treason in proposals to violate the basic rights of their fellow Americans with the threat of  lethal force. If there wasn't an American flag on display then I  would at least give them credit for not being hypocrites in that regard.

Why would the American Left have American flags on the stage at a debate between their potential candidates when they have a globalist agenda and don't have a patriotic or nationalistic bone in their collective bodies?

I would have been surprised if they were present.

Master Beto and the rest of those clown car refugees don't want to be photographed before such a display of white male oppression as the Flag.

When I was a kid the county was decidedly ruled by the Democratic party. The local offices were largely unopposed in the elections.  But.. these were the last of the conservative southern Democrats.  What gets me is why the old conservative Democrats still vote Democratic even though their views are not represented.

I have to wonder if they are just remembering the days of JFK and have not paid much attention to current politics and how far to the left of center it is today compared to the "good old days". I personally know some older folks like this.

Some friends are officers in local labor unions. I had them check and see if their national office was writing checks to Bloomberg, Mom's Demand Action and other anti-gun groups.

Yep they were. Now they are starting to ask questions.

Good.

It's their money. It should go where they want it to.

It's called branding - you sell your brand as all that is good and moral and you demonize your competators brand as all that is hateful and bad. Why are some people die hard Ford or Chevy fans? People grow up liking a certain brand and they will keep buying that brand. Apple has a very strong brand - some people won't have a computer or phone unless it is an Apple product. Harley Davidson's has a strong brand - it isn't a bike unless it's a Harley. My paternal grandmother had no use for the Republicans - even old Abe Lincoln - she was an FDR Democrat through and through. Glocks or 1911's? Coke or Pepsi? 45acp or 9mm?

I see it mostly with old union guys - they only vote Democrat come hell or high water. Also with Teacher's Union types and Government workers.

You can't have a rational or reasonable conversation based on facts with a person who has bought into the brand - that goes for all sides.

I remember back in the mid 70's when there was an issue that was fully against the local people and one guy was going to vote for it. We explained why the issue was so against the people and asked why he was going to vote for it. He told us that the union he once was a part of told their people to vote for it or else. So, he was going to vote for it. That was the way he voted, what ever the union told him.

Although I am strongly conservative, I do my best not to question the character or patriotism of fellow Americans that disagree with my views.

I believe that our lack of mutual respect is a major illness in our great country.

Me too.  I respect those that study the issues and come to their own conclusions.   Unfortunately, it's the middle 50-80% that vote on emotion or appearance or the way some celebrity has told them they should vote.

Worked with a lady that was conservative,  gun owner,  member of NRA.  She admitted voting for Clinton because Hillary would make a more attractive First Lady!

How can you respect someone that wants to take away your guns, have open borders, abortion at anytime, free healthcare for everyone (unaffordable) raise taxes on not only the rich but everyone and have whacky environmental policies? Plus they don't want to hear anything from conservatives!! I can't respect that even a little bit!

Rye, I find if I'm respectful of other folks liberal views, most will listen to my conservative views.

That's great, but I find just the opposite. The left in this country is just out of control! Most of my family included!:o

I have family and ex-family ;) who resemble that exactly. Angry all the time and NOT open to discussing anything. Bitter, hateful people, in my experience. Seemingly by choice as if that will accomplish anything meaningful.

I have had friends and co-workers of 20 years call me names and cut all social contact with me for merely stating that I did not agree with them on an issue. One former friend took offense from my saying that while I did not want abortion to be banned or illegal - I also did not believe it was generally a positive thing to be lauded or supported with taxpayer funding. I had another cut ties with me because I said that yes the 2nd Amendment did protect an individual right to keep and bear arms. I have virtually given up talking about anything political on general social media or with co-workers or liberal friends as I am tired to being told I am evil, racist, misogynistic, nazi, facist, etc....

I do have difficulty accepting as just a normal political difference - (such as how much should be spent or taxed on this or that) - when candidates for president endorse taking away my fundamental rights, liberty, and property. When they threaten me to comply or face lethal force under the color of law in violation of their oaths of office and the constitution and bill of rights. I find this disturbing on a level that goes beyond normal politics or discourse. Especially when the media and their supporters seem to heartily endorse it.

I wish people would step back and we could go back to rational and reasoned debate or discussion. But I don't see that it can happen because when one side says they want a "national discussion" but then they refuse to actually discuss or debate issues or facts but merely produce a list of demands - that is not a discussion or a debate - that is just a demand. I've been mocked that "nobody wants to take your guns" - when I quoted and provided citations of mainstream politicians saying just that. Sadly I see things spiraling down to a very bad place. I pray for God to answer my prayers that people will step back and start acting in good faith out of love. That people will treasure freedom, the rights of individuals, that they will recognize and honor the inalienable God given rights of all, and accept the responsibilities that come with it. I guess we shall see. As has been said, Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.

I got a kick out when asked if they would abolish the tariff change with China all the candidates said "no".  And asked about immigration they said they were for "legal immigration", just what the President is doing, enforcing the laws that are already on the books.  Aren't these the same ones that criticized the President?  Do they think we're not listening.

My ex mother-in-law was so far gone she'd say things like John Wayne was no American when I simply had a western playing on the TV when she'd visit. She'd just announce that unprovoked! And she meant it...angrily. I also heard her say several times that July 4th celebrations are not patriotic and the 4th should not be a holiday. She hated the Second Amendment. She was saying the NRA were terrorists years ago! She hated everything Republican with a passion and there was no having any meaningful discussion with that crazy loon. (My apologies to the State bird of Minnesota). So glad she's ex-family now as she was handily inculcating her daughter with her leftist ideology driving one hell of a wedge between me and my wife...

Whatever. Life's much better now with that mess out of my life.

I firmly believe her politics were hateful and destructive. There was no respecting her views, as vitriolic as they were.

At one point during the debates there was a lot of yelling and screaming from the back of the hall.  I couldn't understand what they were shouting, and ABC didn't comment on it at all!  Anybody know what that was about?

As with ALL the debates now and three plus years ago, if civics/American government was being taught in the schools anymore, ALL the candidates, regardless of party would have been laughed off the stage!  "As president, I'm going to (fill in the blank on the issue), "raise/lower taxes", etc.  No they aren't!

A president can do certain things (yes, by executive order), but most of those things are supposed to be Congress's job, the president either signing or vetoing legislation.  Of course that presupposes Congress can compromise between the parties to get anything done at all!  The sad thing is that people who want a "free lunch" or free college tuition don't understand that somebody pays for it...mostly you and me!  I watch the debates because I want to know what these people are trying to put over on the ignorant/uneducated.  The big, bad corporations do make money. That's so they can pay out something to their investors, of whom 72% are middle-class people...NOT billionaires!  But, as Riley used to say, "Don't bother me with facts, my head is made up!"

One reason for no flags could be something I heard on the radio recently.  Supposedly a study was done that determined that seeing an American flag stirs patriotism and caused people to vote Republican.  Seeing the flag in a parade like a 4th of july parade caused people to sway Republican for months afterward.   This was a reason why the Democrats opposed the President's parade and fly over, to prevent patriotism and pride in our country and president

I've voted for Democratic candidates.  Harold Volkmer was considered a conservative Democrat.  He was pro gun and even an NRA committee member.

Ike Skelton was another at least moderate Democrat but not in my district.

The lack of mutual respect comes mostly from the left. It’s sad I agree but in the other hand it angers me to no end.

What I find amusing is that they say they are tolerant of other people's rights and life styles - as long as it meets with their ideology and agenda.  Then there is 0 tolerance.
