Basal joint CMC surgery, anyone had it done?

Hi Dave,

I've had it done. It has been great. No pain, no arthritis in the thumb.  The rest of the hand has not fared so well. I had surgery in my wrist too (Keinbock's Disease).

I had it done in December 2005 (sometime after the 10th, that was my last match in December) and did not shoot again until March 19, 2006.

Regards,

Allie

PS My healing time might have been longer due to the wrist surgery (four bones removed). However, the doctor told me that tendon grafts, which was done to the thumb to replace the basal joint, tend to take longer to heal.

PPS If you don't hear from Snakebite, you might PM him as he has also had this surgery. I can't remember if it was in 2018 or 2017.

Whew....... Griz, you had me worried.

I thought for a moment you might be having one of them 'gender change' operations.....

Oh hail no!

Just getting my thumb cut on.  The joint at the base of the thumb to be exact.

Fascinating stuff, amazing what they can do.  I've watched several of the surgeries on youtube.  Pretty sure with a sharp pen knife and a fifth of rye you could do it.  I think I'll still go to the surgeon though...
