What they mean by an "assault weapons" ban

Recommended Posts

This is the bill most of the democrats running for the presidency are referencing when they talk about an "assault weapons" ban. It is educational to read.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/senate-bill/66/text

When they talk about an "assault weapons" ban this is what they are referencing - if you read it, there is no grandfather clause, it is a confiscation and it will affect as many as half the firearms owned in this country. It includes a ban on many pistols and all magazines over 10 rounds.

"Assault weapon" is a media term dreamed up to scare sheep and the mentally impaired.
In other words, it can be anything the gun-grabbers want it to be.. just like males entering female sports teams, toilets and locker rooms.

You can show the sheep a scary black plastic AR-style varmint rifle and they will shiver and shake.
Show the same sheep a pretty Browning 12-gauge with a top grade walnut stock and receiver engraved with butterflies and unicorns,.
He won't be scared at all, even though it has a full length magazine and is loaded with #1 buckshot.

These morons are easily scared into voting away their 2nd amendment rights.

If it is pink and has a box magazine, like my 10/22.

This ban is slightly less inclusive thn previous versions.  The old proposal didn’t exempt for tube magazines so the Marlin 60 was also an assault weapon. The 2019 proposal exempts 22 cal rimfire tubular magazines.

Is history trying to be repeated 1933 ?

Maybe less inclusive of some tube fed 22lr, though don't recall those being banned for sale in the first federal ban. But this current one doesn't just deal with new sales. Per my reading it also bans possession. That's the big difference today. Before they always grandfathered, current as I read it bans possession of "assault weapons" and magazines over 10 rounds. Also per my reading it pretty much bans all semi-autos pistols and rifles that have a threaded barrel - say goodbye to any semi-auto with a silencer.

I was referring to the recent proposals, 2017 &2018 if memory serves.  The Clinton ban did not classify the model 60 as an assault weapon.

Eliminating suppressors is their goal.  I’ll miss the recoil reducing breaks more.

If I use my "assault weapon" to defend myself is it then a "Defense weapon"?

Yes, I like it! We need to rebrand the AR15 as the Armalite Defense Rifle.

Or even better have all the manufacturers drop the AR15 moniker and start calling them the DR-30. Defense Rifle 30 round capacity(standard).

A BILL,

To regulate the un-American activities by subjects that infest our government, have base tendencies toward Marxism, Communism, Socialism and Collectivism in the whole or in part, but act against their oaths and against the Constitution they took oaths to protect and follow.

SHORT TITLE:

This act may be cited as “The Scum Removal Bill of 2019”.

SUBJECTS:

Mrs. Feinstein (for herself, Mr. Murphy, Mr. Blumenthal, Mr. Schumer, Mr. Durbin, Mrs. Murray, Mr. Reed, Mr. Carper, Mr. Menendez, Mr. Cardin, Ms. Klobuchar, Mr. Whitehouse, Mrs. Gillibrand, Mr. Schatz, Ms. Hirono, Ms. Warren, Mr. Markey, Mr. Booker, Mr. Van Hollen, Ms. Duckworth, Ms. Harris, Mr. Casey, Mr. Sanders, Ms. Smith, Mr. Wyden, Ms. Hassan, Mrs. Shaheen, Mr. Warner, and Mr. Merkley)

This list of “subjects” is not all inclusive. More to be added at a later date.

DEFINITION:

Un-American; actions and words that go against the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence as well as Common Law.

Scum; those that embrace the doctrines listed in the preamble of this Bill and manipulate their way into power and their actions are deemed as un-American as listed above.

REGULATION:

All participants in any federal government body or agency that violate the United States Constitution are to be immediately removed from office.

Any and all monies acquired while in office or employment are to be rescinded and returned to the federal government.

Failure to produce monies required to be paid to the government will result in prison sentences equivalent to 1 year for every $10,000 not produced.

The FBI and an oversight committee, to be named later, will conduct investigations and their findings will be relayed to the President of the United States and the Supreme Court for adjudication.

I don’t know why I am wasting time on this. It would never happen. Our government is full of scum.

When you look at the list they're going after just about every semiautomatic rifle made and most semiautomatic pistols are going to fall into the same category.

Hopefully,  this will get flushed.

BS

It is written just like the California AW ban. Feinstein never had an original idea in her life. You can tell it’s a copy of the California ban law because of the list of guns on the bill. It’s nearly identical. Those guns are “extra” evil.

The solution is really simple:  stop voting for Democrats.

I hope we do more than preach to the choir. We do a lot of that here.

Alan Gottlieb of the Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, and the Second Amendment Foundation, was interviewed in the last Guns Magazine.

He discussed the generally bad record in this country for voter turnout, and he pointed out that their studies show that voter turnout by gun owners is somewhat poorer than for the population in general. Not an encouraging piece of information.

If every gun owner in this country voted we wouldn't have these problems.

Unfortunately, the choir is about the only ones who will listen to us.

Doesn't the DOJ  call them "personal defense rifles " when carried by LEOs?

Washington State, despite its politics, has historically had good gun laws. It remains 'shall issue' and still has state pre-emption. Its 1889 Constitution has a simple and very clear statement of the individual citizen's right to bear arms in self-defense.

But the climate is changing, starting with the recent initiative that established a waiting period and training requirement for all semi-auto rifle purchases. The initiative process, funded by rich antis, is now the pathway.

But Washington has 600,000 concealed pistol license holders-- more than 15% of the adult population. I just these were active, not counting total firearms owners, you would have a powerful political force. Put gun owners in general along with it, and it would be hard to lose. If those 600K had voted, the recent initiative would have easily tanked.

But it's just hope. People will take the trouble to get a CPL but not to vote, or to run, or to campaign. Nowadays, discouragement and lassitude is our biggest threat. Put indignation into actual political work.

Most people just talk. A few write checks. A tiny number get out there and get busy.

When I-1639 passed I had a co-worker bitch to me about it. I also asked him who he voted for during the election. Turns out he didn't even vote as he thinks doing so is a waste of time.

It was probably the one time I had to fight off the urge to punch out a fellow gun owner.

Staying home is a vote for the Democrat.
Voting 3rd party conservative is a vote for the Democrat.

Getting your panties in a wad and voting for the Democrat is effectively TWO votes for the Democrat.
One from not voting conservative and cancelling a Democrat vote, the second from voting FOR the Democrat.

I figure if America votes in more Democrats, then all of us are going to get what Democrat voters so richly deserve.
