Alpo
If you saw a friend or relative's vehicle somewhere where you were pretty certain they wouldn't be, would you call them and ask if their car has been stole? Or would you go in asking "who's driving that car out there??" Some time back I pulled up to a job site and saw my father-in-law's truck there. He had no reason to be there. and there was no question in my mind that it was his truck. I went in and called him. He was a mechanic, and had loaned it to a welder so he can go to work, as his truck was getting an engine rebuild. Which made perfect sense, but my initial reaction had been to go storming in bellowing, "WHO THE HELL IS DRIVING THAT WHITE FORD WITH THE AMERICAN FLAG ON THE GRILL?!?!??" Glad I didn't. Equanimous Phil
I'd normally say "the simplest solution is most likely the right one" (Occam's razor) But loaned isn't necessarily simpler than stolen... You made a good CALL!
