Utah Bob #35998
Following high school, Humphreys enlisted in the United States Army in November 2004. He was stationed in Germany, and, assigned to the 1st Battalion 36th Infantry Regiment, an element of the 1st Armored Division, he completed an 18-month deployment in Anbar Province, Iraq. Following his return to the United States and some time at Fort Riley in Kansas, Humphreys completed his service on June 4, 2008. While in the Army, he was given the nickname "Gump" by his fellow soldiers

Marshal Hangtree
I read some interesting trivia about the making of Forrest Gump the other day. The director and Hanks were so impressed with this young actor, that they decided to make Hanks' adult accent match the young Gump's real accent, rather than trying to train the youngster to talk a certain way. So Michael Humphrey's accent and mannerisms were the real deal.
