We have a 5 member Board, elections every 2 years, usually the same people. 2. 2. How often does your club have a full/dedicated membership meeting? (in months) Monthly shoot shooters meeting we go over any issues with range, lease, expenses upcoming events and rules clarifications. 3. 3. Has your club membership dropped over the past 5 years? We loose some and gain some, seems to stay about the same with that. 4. 4. Does your membership vote on club expenditures? NO! 5. 5. Count Sandor, SASS #74075 Posted August 20, 2019 Share Posted August 20, 2019 Both of the clubs I represent exist as disciplines under the auspices of parent private gun clubs. Neither "cowboy" club collects membership dues, with income being completely from monthly entry fees, and also, in the case of Club #1, from our annual, which averages 110 shooters/year. Club 1: 1. Yes 2. Annually, in January. 3. Yes, primarily due to older members passing away, and in a few cases lately, to folks escaping the "great" state of Illinois. 4. Yes, if anything major. 5. Yes, but primarily in regards to profit/loss from our annual, and to our total yearly contribution to the parent gun club. Club 2: 1. Yes 2. No, except informally if some issue arises. 3. SASS club is a subgroup under a parent organization. 3. 3. Has your club membership dropped over the past 5 years? No 4. 4. Does your membership vote on club expenditures? No. All SASS funds go to the parent origination. Parent organization approves expenditures. 5. 5. Does your club membership receive a complete financial report at every meeting? Officer positions usually are the same, but Board members are term limited to 2 consecutive 1-yr terms but can be re-elected after sitting out a year. 2. (in months) Once per month Plus one match per month April through October. 3. 3. Has your club membership dropped over the past 5 years? No. Increased slightly. 4. 4. T-Square Posted August 21, 2019 Share Posted August 21, 2019 Thanks for gathering this data, and thanks in advance for publishing the results. this kind of data, and 'best practices' of Cowboy clubs should be something the governing body (SASS) aggregates and publishes. It would be interesting to benchmark with other clubs ! SASS should publish an annual survey and analysis. ive been shooting two years, and it seems like the same 10 percent do 90 percent of the work. I think that makes "change" hard, both because changing is hard, but also there is a great comfort in the efficiencies of an old routine when you are under-staffed. its also very interesting to see how the Cowboy Clubs are treated by the Gun Club. 1 YES 2 NO meeting, just announcements at monthly match 3 YES 4 NO 5 NO Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Has your club membership dropped over the past 5 years? Yes 4. 4. Does your membership vote on club expenditures? No, just officers. 5. 5.
