What gun are you using? That'd be real close to not fitting in my 1873 carrier.

1.601 gives my 73 a hard time. It can be reduced to 1.596. If I recall correctly 1.614 works in my Marlin

Savvy Jack likes to experiment, but not cast so much, so he sent me his custom Accurate Mold and I cast up a batch for him. His 2 cavity reminded me of why I like 5-6 cavity molds! It did make some nice bullets though, like all Accurate Molds do, in my experience.

I need to spend a little less time"experimenting" and a bit more time casting....but I HATE CASTING!!!

That load didn't work out too good for the Marlin. Here are some other loads as well (200gr Laser Cast Magma and 200gr Swaged Magma design)@ 100 yards...for those that enjoy the side matches.

I am afraid I am at the end of the line!

This is the best I can do.

43-214A loaded with 25.8gr of Reloder 7

WARNING!!!!
My armature testing...32deg weather produced 10,000psi when testing this load but using John Kort's 43-215C design @ 117gr. Pressures for 80degrees could be upwards to 12,000psi

Uberti Winchester 73'
Macolm Scope

@ 100 YARDS!!!!

My first ten shots were used to adjust the scope.

Target #2 is my first ten shots after first scope adjustment.
Target #3 is the result of three 10 shot groups.

Barrel too hot to hold after 10 shots, allowed to cool between each ten shot group.

attachment.php?attachmentid=767705&stc=1
Target #2, not yet removed, first scope adjustment

attachment.php?attachmentid=767707&stc=1
Target #2 as documented

attachment.php?attachmentid=767709&stc=1
Target #3, not yet removed...(2nd scope adjustment) first ten shot group

attachment.php?attachmentid=767711&stc=1
Target #3, not yet removed...second ten shot group

attachment.php?attachmentid=767713&stc=1
Target #3, not yet removed...third ten shot group

attachment.php?attachmentid=767715&stc=1
Target #3 as documented, 30 shots inside a 4" circle, replicating Doc Pardee's 1875 shots but mine are with smokeless powder.

attachment.php?attachmentid=767723&stc=1

Target #3 with Target #2 superimposed on top, black marks represent ten shot placements.

All in all, 40 consecutive shots inside a 4" circle @ 100 yards

It's been my experience that .44 mag Marlins like the heavier bullets.

I forget what Marlin used for a ROT of the .44CB.

OLG

1 in 38" , Lumpy. Seems ridiculous , but it has been that way forever.
