Boulder Canyon Bob# 32052L
In order to feed our cowboy action shooting habit our club Black Hills Shootists perform train robberies several times a summer on the Hill City 1880 Steam Train. We buy our blanks, but they're getting more and more expensive. I'm looking at making some. Anybody ever done that and if so would you care to share your recipe. The ones we use now project nothing but spent gasses and I'm looking to replicate that. I've done it with smokeless, but the loud bank and smoke isn't there. I located a page on the internet that listed 6 drams of FFFg, but haven't tried that yet. Thanks

Branchwater Jack SASS #88854
I have used the floral foam method with great success in the past. Although, unlike the video, I start with already fired hulls....
The Shoer 27979
When I made them I put in about 15-20 grains of black powder then that floral foam, that floral foam is gone before it hits the end of the battle.

I use this method and add a roll crimp to finish the ends off neatly, they work great and pretty much nothing but smoke and fire come out of the barrel. Branchwater Jack SASS #88854
We were loading between 30 and 50 grains, depending on whether you had more sense or money.

Boulder Canyon Bob# 32052L
THANKS, I certainly don't have much sense and the club has little money. I'll give it a try.
