Howdy,

I started a detailed write up about this. ran out of time.

Chad McQueen got the city of San Fran to allow a rerun and reshoot of Steve's

Bullitt  Mustang scene on the same streets.

Chad got a custom car builder to build a 68 mustang.

You might look on utube or on the tv car channels for the whole show.

I stumbled on it by accident.

There were a lot more problems than one would think.

See, Chad didn't have any 68 mustang to start with.

Say, that wasn't @Pat Riot, SASS #13748 again at the :34 sec mark of the second (original) video, or was it his stunt double? :o:D

The whole build and actual re-creating run is on Discovery/Fast and Loud.  Not quite a "true" reproduction. They made some  handling and engine improvements. As they said we don't have a second car to fix and continuing filming.

Great movie. Local theater showed it on the big screen a few months back. The car chase is the best. THe ancient to us technology was fun to laugh at.

I couldn't believe what they paid for a shell of a car.

Nope. I wear a helmet and armored leather. :D

And there was no idiot that got in the way....No, I believe that man was my stunt double ;)

That was definitely one of the coolest movie scenes ever.

Any reproduction is a mere copy of greatness. The McQueens need to untie the apron strings and find their own way.

Howdy,

I would have called on some Mustang clubs.

Hard telling what real help some members might have been.

Is there a Mustang replica registry??

I am pretty sure the real car is off limits.

Howdy,

The real one showed up for the intro of the Bulliet edition in Detroit.

The owner is real protective and hides the car and himself.

Looks like he took the dent out of the nose.

I never would have.
