Middlefork Bob, SASS #53945
I am currently loading 4.2 grns, Alliant Unique in 357 cases and a 130grn bullet . I have a full can of Hodgdon Universal that I would like to use up. before buying a another batch of Unique. anybody use Universal in 38/357? I assume I can load about the same charge as unique since they are very close in burn rate.

The Rainmaker, SASS #11631
If you don't find the exact information you need for a specific load in the Hodgdon tables, give them a call, they are very helpful. BTW, Universal is great powder! Clean and you generally use less than other powders. Hodgdon lists a load for .357 using Universal for a 135 gr. bullet. Using the low end data for that load ought to get you pretty close for CAS.
Michigan Slim
Universal is a great powder. I did notice a distinct difference with Unique in the 20 gauge. NOT a direct crossover. Gave more recoil then the same grain weight of Unique.
