Custom Rolling Block 45-70

Recommended Posts

For sale- A beautiful custom rolling block rifle in 45-70 cal. HEAVY 28 1/2 inch  round barrel ,bright bore with sharp rifling, no rust pits scratches dings at all on this rifle ! Trigger breaks clean and crisp at 3 # with just a tiny bit of creep, very nice set of range ready sights, rear veneer sight is set up with a Hadley style cup and a front globe with a post insert. I really don't know who built this rifle but they did an outstanding job. There is a Stamp crest on top that's says Republic  Del Salvador. action locks up like a safe. The rifle weighs in at 12 lbs.  I shot 500 grain montana cast bullets with 24 gr. of 5744 and was very comfortable shooting AND very accurate!  $900.00 shipped to your FFL.  Thanks for looking- SCJ

I will take the forearm off tommorow and see if the is anything that would identify the mfg. No idea who did the barrel work. Will check the rate of twist also tommorow. SCJ

The only identifying marks on the barrel is the caliber- 45-70.

The rate of twist is 1-18.  SCJ

If Remington built it, it should be stamped on the tang (under the tangent rear sight).

How much does it weigh?

No stamp on the rear tang.   SCJ

It may have been polished off when the action was refinished. My first centerfire rifle was a .43 Spanish carbine that had been reblued. There was very little of the tang stamping left.
