Wild Willi
Here is an original Colt Lightning in 38-40, has an octagonal barrel, seems to function as it should I have never fired it but the fellow I got it from said it worked well. I offer it at a very reasonable NOW $1500 plus the shipping from my FFL to yours. No sales to California and everything goes through My FFL dealer.see the pics Wood is good, metal finish mostly white as you see in the pics, bore has good rifling WW

Jesse Judd
I've been considering it too. But, would like to know when it was made. Good chance it could be shipped to your door. JJ

Wild Willi
Used it they only have the production date. I calle them and they said the info on Lightnings was lost in a fire but I could send in the $100 but most likely that would be all they could provide
Barry Sloe
I'm going to try to copy the page from the Blue Book with the Colt Lightning serial number breakdown. With any luck it will work. BS Colt serial numbers.pdf
Wild Willi
This is what Colt has in their Archive, Screen Shot Below Year of Manufacture 1895 Model LIGHTNING MAGAZINE RIFLE (MEDIUM FRAME - 32, 38, AND 44 CALIBERS)
Barry Sloe
So, per the Blue Book, your serial number should be between 76000 and 78999. Is that where it falls in? Just checking the accuracy of the book. BS

Charlie Plasters, SASS#60943
So have you cycled 38-40s thru it with no problem? I see you haven't shot it - why?
Wild Willi
I have cycled it seems to function great, the previous owner said he shot is it and sent me a box of ammo that was about 3/4 gone. I do not have any 38-40 guns and when I bought the rifle I had a deal on a pair of Rugers in 38-40 but got sold out under me and I ended up with 45s never found another pair but I do not reload so in the save it went it was not lonely WW
