In the late 1800s the Chinese did not write left to right top to bottom but rather top to bottom, right to left. Writing L-R, T-B was uncommon until later. It was mandated by the government in the 1950s. There is also too much punctuation. In 1870 the Chinese used very little if any punctuation when writing. I can't read it but I recognize common Japanese Kanji characters and there are none present. Also my ex-wife is Chinese and I got to see her write stuff like this all the time. Course spent a lot of time in office hearing how that wasn't what "they" wanted.
