Don't have pictures but I would probably pack my S&W 544 in 44/40.

Although legal, this pistol means too much to me to use for Wild Bunch shooting.

It's a RIA 1911A1 .45 ACP:  2011-2012 OEF commemorative

This is from our 11- 12 deployment.

It comes with EXTORTION 17 dog tags for CW5 David Carter [Colorado PC] and SSG Patrick Hamburger [Nebraska FE] who we lost in a shoot down on our first week in country.  We lost 34 Heros that night 20110806.

No, the negative isn’t flipped. Nope. It’s not a custom Ruger. Less than 300 ever made.

Dayum... those look to be lifted directly from the House of the Rising Sun.... ;)

One does has to admire the intricacy of the engraving work.
No do-overs, no "oops" allowed...

Have you shot yours ? I have, both Smokeless & Black. I refuse to discuss Smokeless, don't ask.

Yes, with 4f real black, triple 7 3f, pyrodex RS, flash powder and smokeless.. Pretty potent little popgun with triple 7, same with smokeless... Just like everything else I own, I have two, I've never shoot the standard one but my super rare limited edition had been shot more than I can remember lol...

When dick casull designed these for freedom arms, they were originally designed for some brand of smokeless which I won't mention. ATF threatened to classify them as "firearms" if they didn't stop putting load data in the owners manual. So they stopped. Now NAA claims it's dangerous to do so, don't do it, EVER! But the design never changed when freedom arms sold it to NAA and they started making them... So there's that...

OK I'll ask, whats a BBQ gun?

Handguns belonging to a  style made popular by Texas tradition.  Most typically it is not just a shiny gun.  A "BBQ gun" has long been recognized as an engraved gun with pearl or ivory grips that one might wear on high brow social/political occasions, BBQs, political fundraisers and the like.   Most typically a SAA or as likely in more modern times a 1911.   But never anything over 5.5" in a SAA.   Carry/duty  guns, they suppose to be fancy but made to be carried every day and used as intended.

A classic turn of the last century Colt in BBQ attire.

Two plain guns that are not, even with MOP grips.   6 with ivory that are traditional BBQ guns.

Well it's about time. I was wondering when you were going to stop by with the official definition. I came close to posting it, but I was afraid I would get it wrong and disappoint you.

Late to the party as usual I guess.  Late to the BBQ?!   It is nice that folks ask what a BBQ gun is.   I wish more people actually recognized the tradition.   Best education one can get on BBQ guns and how they were used is through a day tour of the Texas Ranger museum in Waco TX.  It is an eye opener.

Folks have posted some really nice guns but the definition of the traditional BBQ gun is what it is.  Can't shirk that reality.     Hopefully others will follow suit and strive to have their own BBQ and continue the tradition.    Heck every major SASS match is just a Texas BBQ anyway...without the best eats of course :)  I'd love to see a big BBQ where folks could wear and show off their best truly traditional clothing, leather and side arms. Not a dbl belly button rig, shotgun slide, running shoes or a Ruger in sight!  Imagine that :)

One more BBQ gun in the Texas/Colorado tradition.

G W Wade first mentioned a loose definition and Crooked River Pete gave a good explanation link.  I thought a few times of saying "Yeah, nice guns but some of y'all are a little vague on the concept."  But then, we all like looking at all the pretty guns, BBQ or not. :)

Some how people get offended when you tell them their pride an joy aint a BBQ gun.  Wish it weren't that way.  It took me a long time to be able to afford a proper BBQ gun.  Because of the  joy I get from owning a nice engraved gun, it is a pleasure now that I wish I'd  attained years earlier.

Either way wish folks would recognize  what the BBQ guns really are.    Kinda like having a fast car.....it a may be fast but it isn't an Indy car.   Doesn't make your car a POS and it can still be scary fast but it still isn't an Indy car.

With all that bluing worn off, all those scratches and the stain bleached out of those grips, you should just get rid of them, they aren't even safe to shoot with those deep gouges. If you ship them to me I'll properly dispose of them for you.B)

Exactly. Another reason why I didn't want to say anything. I'm getting my monthly gun porn quota all at once. System overload perhaps, but well worth it.
