nunnfaster, SASS #51021
What is the lightest weight revolver regular size for 38 special less than 5 inch new cowboy gun on the market?
Abilene, SASS # 27489
3 1/2" New Sheriff's model Uberti, I would think. Don't believe Pietta makes one shorter than 4 3/4". A Pietta and Uberti 4 3/4" will weigh about the same.
nunnfaster, SASS #51021
Want one in the 4 inch range.
Marshal Hangtree
Most are going to be 4-3/4" barrels, and weights will be within an ounce or two. Not much perceivable difference. You'd be better off fondling the different models and makers to see which one feels best in your hand rather than fretting over an ounce or two of weight. Besides that, less weight in the gun generally equals more perceivable recoil. But, YMMV.

If he went with the P jrs he could go even lighter. They only weigh 1.8 Lbs. A savings of an additional 8.8 ounces.

Doc Shapiro
Going to shift the discussion. Why do you want a light weight revolver? Felt recoil will be higher. The lightest guns will be in 45 Colt. The hole is bigger so there's less metal weight. However, the weight of the cartridge adds up.

Chili Ron
Howdy, Its too bad so few actual weights are listed. The early ruger blackhawks had a good bit of light alloy. I guess that would violate the 'new' part but those are great little cowboy guns and not real heavy. Also widely available and not too expensive...... Some were coltified before the new ruger vaqueros showed up. Light alloy parts from old rugers might go on new vaqueros to give a lightweight durable match revolver. Boggus Deal #64218
Take Ruger NVs put aluminum ejector rod housings and gripframes on them. That will get them a bit lighter.
