Are Cimarron Dragoons Any Good?

I can't offer a specific on the Cimarron Dragoon, but I can say this; they are actually made by Uberti.    My Walker, 1860 and one of 58 Remingtons happen to be Cimarrons made by Uberti, and they are just fine.

My Dragoon is actually a second gen Colt.  It is my understanding that the parts were made by Uberti, but that they were assembled by Colt.   Also a good gun.

You may extrapolate from all of this as you see fit.

Well my 'extraperlatin days are over, as I always struggled with the romance languages.

However, I will extend the application of your findings to my unknown situation by assuming that existing trends here may continue to be applicable.

Well .... OK ..... But don't be real surprised if your Uberti built Cimarron Dragoon(s) need considerable after purchase work to be acceptable for CAS. Along with that, NONE of the current manufacturers Cap Guns are acceptable for CAS right Out of The Box.  Uberti are just a bit more problematic than others.  Good Luck.

Currently, only one supplier of Dragoon.  Uberti.  Doesn't matter which importer, it will come from Uberti.

Doc Coles:  If your going to really play with a Uberti Cap Gun, first up is to correct the Barrel to Arbor fit.  99% of Uberti Open Top pattern guns have a severe fit problem with the Arbor.  Then correct the barrel to cylinder gap, then check the fit of the Bolt to the cylinder slots.  Change out the OEM nipples for Slixshot.  Polish and perhaps rework the Hammer face.  Replace or tune the Trigger/Bolt Spring.  Replace or tune the Main Spring.  Make and install an action over travel stop.  I also add a Cap Rake to prevent fired caps from sucking down the hammer channel.

To save some time in explanation:  Go to "The Open Range" which is now a read only storehouse of knowledge and read Larsen E. Pettifoggers tutorial on Uberti Cap Guns.

Well I purchased one for $370, shipped.  This is my first real foray into BP, and I plan on adding an 1851 in .36 to it soon.  When I get a moment, I will take her apart and give it the old Balthazar once over (which mean I will find fault somewhere).  I plan on posting more pics here on this website, because 1. Pics are nice and 2. It livens up the joint.  Look for them in the future, I guess!

+ 1 to Coffinmaker. I spent the fall and winter doing exactly what he covered in his post to my Uberti cap guns. (2) Walkers an 1860 and 1851.

(I) shot I full practice and (1) full match of (6) stages-30 rounds per gun per session with great success. No misfires, cap jams or cap suck.

They are great fun.

You wanted a pic. This is where you need to adjust the arbor so it dead heads.
